THE IMPACT OF FISCAL POLICIES ON GOVERNMENTAL ACCOUNTING: This study aims to (i) evaluate the effects of fiscal policies on governmental accounting practices, (ii) assess the challenges posed by changes in fiscal policies, and (iii) propose measures to adapt accounting practices to evolving fiscal environments. A survey design is chosen for its ability to collect extensive data from governmental accountants and policymakers. The sample size of 335 respondents is derived using Taro Yamane's formula, ensuring reliable and representative data. The case study is conducted in Abuja, given its central role in fiscal policy formulation. The reliability coefficient score of the survey instrument is 0.83. Findings reveal that changes in fiscal policies significantly impact accounting practices, often leading to challenges in financial reporting and budget management. Recommendations include continuous monitoring of fiscal policy changes and the adoption of flexible accounting practices to accommodate these changes.
